• Youngest Player to play for India
• Played 1st on 15th Nov against Pakistan
• Scored 27 runs against Qadir in an exhibition match (3 sixes and 2 fours)
• On 13th August 1990 scored his 1st Test century against England at Manchester
• Won his 1st Man of the Match in the same match he scored his 1st hundred

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, 1997-98

Played an amazing innings of 136 at Chennai against Pakistan. The tailenders spoiled his hard work and India lost the match by 12 runs.
• Padma Shri in 1999
Lost his father during the World Cup 1999. Came back to India in between and joined the team after 2 days. Scored 140* runs in his come back match against Kenya. Greatest tribute to a father from a son.
• Scored his highest score in ODI when he scored 186* against NewZealand on 8th Nov 1999
• During his 186 innings he and Dravid scored 331 runs for 2nd Wicket which is a World Record for any wicket in ODI
• Scored his 1st double hundred against NewZealand at Ahemdabad in 1999
• Became the 1st player to score 4 hundreds with a Six. He scored 179 against WI in 1994, 122 against England in 1996, 113 against New Zealand in 1999 and 126 against Australia in 2001 with a six.
