Sehwag Faces Sore Back

Jaipur:Indian opener Virender Sehwag has developed a sore back during the first ODI against South Africa, even though its unlikely to affect his participation in the second One-dayer against same opponent in Gwalior on Wednesday, 24th Feb.

“Sehwag has a sore back and he underwent a scan yesterday. But it doesn’t look serious enough to render him unavailable for the Gwalior match,” a team official said.

Sehwag batted well in Sunday’s humdinger against South Africa which India clinched by a wafer-thin one-run margin in the last ball of the game. Sehwag scored a quick 46 before he got out and he also could not fill in the part-timer’s role during South Africa’s chase because of the sore back problem. Sehwag left the field during South Africa’s innings and was replaced by Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayyar.

Sehwag’s presence in second ODI would be crucial as India are missing Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh already due to injuries.
