Freddie retires from all forms of cricket

London: Andrew Flintoff, the England All rounder retired from all forms of cricket. The decision was made because of long standing Knee-injury which he was suffering for quite some time,finally he called it a day.Since he was unable to recover from the knee injury which forced him to retire from all the forms. Freddie was one of the finest All Rounders and players the world has seen. His presence always played a great motivation in the dressing room. His heroics in the Ashes twice at home made him much more popular among the cricket followers. He finally expressed his retirement with sadness and disappointment from all forms of cricket after consulting his medical adviser.

Flintoff said “It is with both disappointment and sadness that I am today announcing my retirement from all forms of cricket,” he added “The decision to end my career came yesterday after consultation with medical advisers. I was told that the problems I have been trying to overcome in rehab for the last year following the latest in a series of operations would not recover sufficiently to allow a comeback”.

He further added “Having been told that my body would no longer stand up to the rigors of cricket, I had no alternative but to retire.I would like to thank my family, Lancashire Cricket Club, England, all my sponsors, friends and advisers for all the help and support they have given me throughout my career.”

Flintoff lastly said “Last, but by no means least, I am indebted to the encouragement and support I have always received from England’s magnificent supporters. I will now be taking a break before deciding which future direction to take.”

Freddie,he was called by this name by all the cricket followers around the world.Andrew Flintoff had a terrific career. He played 79 Tests and scored 3845 runs with an avg of 31.77 and scored 5 centuries.In Test bowling he claimed 226 wickets at an avg of 32.78 with three five-wicket hauls. He played 141 ODIs and scored 3394 runs and scalped 169 wickets respectively.He also played vital role in the historical win in Ashes for twice at home.

He announced his retirement from Test cricket after winning Ashes at home in 2009. But was keen to continue to play in the short forms of the game.But, his knee injury always kept him on the stretcher and never allowed him to get back on the field. In IPl he plays for Chennai Super kings.
