‘England tour one of my difficult tours, hints Test return’
Karachi:The Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi who returned back home along with his team after one of the most difficult tours of his career expressed that he may return to the Tests if the team needs him.
Pakistan was camped in England for the last four months which played series against Australia and England. The trip was altogether a disaster and depressing one for Pakistani team for all the allegations, controversy which marooned its performance. The only thing which made them feel little well was series level performance against Australia. Pakistan played two Test matches against Australia in England and leveled the series by 1-1. Pakistan won the second test match against Australia after 15 long years.
Shahid Afridi, who captained first test match against Australia and announced his retirement just after the first test loss to Australia at Lord’s, but now is planning to reconsider his decision of Test retirement.
He said” “I will think about it and if the team needs it, I may consider playing the Test series against South Africa.”
Pakistan currently is in the midst of storm for multiple allegations and the prime one is the Spot-fixing Controversy which broke after Lord’s test against England.
Pakistan lost the Test series by 3-1 as well as ODI series by 3-2 against England, which returned home with empty hands but only with too many controversies on its plate.
Shahid Afridi expressed the team unity in spite of so many allegations which marred the team prospect as well the performance during England Tour.He said “The best part of the whole tour was that the players showed unity even in difficult times and gave a good fight in the one-day series against England,”
He further added “It was tough because of the controversies and became very difficult to cope with, because every time we went out of the hotel people passed remarks against us, and also one of the most difficult tours in my 14 years of career.”.
Pakistan came in the spot of bother when three Pakistani players involved in spot-fixing of Lord’s test match. The accused players are Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif.
