Poem on WC Final: – A Day To Remember!!

Who would have called this possible at that stage?
India, Sri Lanka waiting to fill another history page.
India demands another June 25th 1983,
Honestly, the contest is becoming too electrifying for me.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka dreams of a 17th March 1996,
This time, they have put almost every other team in a fix.

Well, it cannot get more exciting than this,
This final, in a nightmare even, I cannot give a miss.
The engrossing contest is going to be damn nail biting certainly,
Though mind games from the rival camp have already begun disdainfully.
In this hunt, success in leaving Pakistan and Australia far behind,
Really pumps up, India’s heart and mind.

Still with Sri Lanka left, the game may go any way,
But, seriously hoping, to its tune, India makes us sway.
Still on, is this heroic game,
To script history again, is both side’s aim.
Worth seeing will be which team attains fame,
And which skipper with strategies makes the other lame.

Both nations are filled with racing heart beats,
Regarding which team will impress with its feats.
Because of the turn-abouts, I call ‘this game’ beautiful,
With this World Cup journey being beyond words wonderful.
With just one day hence, one team will be bidding good bye,
The adieu being with a heavy mournful sigh.
And the real winners ending on a high.

But till then crossed are my fingers,
And in my heart, an optimistic hope lingers.
So, go Team India, win it back,
Hope in spirit, you don’t lack.
Though this World Cup for two legends is the last,
Only one flag has to fly at the mast,
Only one flag has to fly at the mast…
